Hello, my name is Toshi Matsunaga.
I am a Nondual Embodiment teacher, Co-Developer and Trainer/Mentor of KI Emotional Repression Inquiry.
Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, my journey took an unexpected turn at age 11 when I was sent to England to attend Summerhill, a free school founded by A.S. Neill. There, I experienced freedom—along with the profound responsibility that comes with it. The school’s emphasis on self-exploration and emotional freedom shaped my early years, fostering a deep sense of self-reliance and curiosity. I have remained in the UK ever since.
From a young age, I was drawn to the deeper questions of existence: Who or what are we, truly, as human beings? This inquiry led me to immerse myself in spiritual teachings, exploring a vast range of traditions and practices. Over the years, I was fortunate to sit with influential teachers and experience profound awakenings that deeply altered my perception of reality. These moments of realization allowed me to abide in a state of effortless awareness, revealing the boundless nature of existence beyond the mind’s limitations.
Yet, even after profound spiritual awakenings, I encountered an undeniable paradox: the deeper my awareness became, the more unresolved suffering surfaced. For years, spiritual seeking had provided refuge from emotional pain I hadn’t fully acknowledged. But no amount of presence or surrender could bypass the unprocessed emotional repression held in my body—manifesting as anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
This realization led me to Kiloby Inquiries (KI), developed by Scott Kiloby and Dan McLintock. KI transformed my relationship with suffering by addressing the unconscious emotional repression that had unknowingly shaped my life. Through this work, I uncovered the ways my mind had subtly kept painful emotions buried—even within spiritual practice. I began to see how “allowing everything to be as it is” had often served as another layer of avoidance. With KI, I accessed and integrated the core fears and repressed emotions that had long been hidden beneath my awakening experiences.
Today, as a Nondual Embodiment teacher, co-developer, and mentor/trainer of KI Emotional Repression (3D work), my deepest passion is helping others bridge the gap between spiritual awakening and embodied transformation. True awakening is not just a shift in perception—it is the full integration of our humanness. It requires us to bring everything to light—our identities, stories, and beliefs—making the unconscious fully conscious. Only then can we embody the freedom that awakening reveals. There is profound beauty in discovering what lies beyond our darkest stories and repressed emotions. When they return to Awareness, we come home.
I have over 2,000 hours of experience working with clients, trainees, and mentees through hundreds of one-on-one sessions, group sessions, and workshops.
I have experience working with emotional repression, addiction, birth trauma, depression, chronic pain, physical abuse, racial abuse, sexual abuse, sexual repression, PTSD, cPTSD, spiritual seeking, past-life trauma, and non-dual bypassing.
